The Ostpolitik project started in February 2007 from the artistic collaboration between the dj/drummer Edoardo Fracassi, who had been working for some years on the Florentine Minimal House/Electro scene under the pseudonym of Dad.Wav, and musician Federico Fragasso, previously voice and guitar of the Post-Punk Tribuna Ludu group. The two initially joined forces to contribute to the sound track of the documentary InMensaMente Chi?, made by the Political Collective Group of the Political Science Faculty of Florence. The need to underline the images with a musical comment oriented the group's sound towards highly evocative sound solutions, in which dilated rhythms cohabited with environmental harmonic themes, ethereal carpets of guitar and synthesisers. The piece Versailles, main theme of the documentary, is the first example of the musical direction chosen.
In the summer the two were joined by Matteo Rondelli (aka Slesh), dj and producer from the Hip-Hop/Electro-Breaks/Drum'nBass underground. His contribution brought into the group the LP culture typical of the genre: scratch, sampling and voice cuts. With this threesome, the Ostpolitik performed for the first time in July 2007 at the Insanamente Cortona Sound Festival, along with My Awesome Mixtape and Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti.
In the autumn of the same year the group made a self-produced demo with four pieces. Alongside the live dimension, Fracassi and Rondelli continue their activities in clubs with the dj sets of the Ostmuzik.
