in collaboration with Musicus Concentus - Tradizione in movimento

The trio +2 includes some of the most inspired exponents of the Brazilian new audio scene. The line-up is Alexander Kassin, one of the most brilliant composers and arrangers in the new Brazilian music scene, Moreno Veloso, son of the celebrated Caetano and long term associate of Gilberto Gil and Arto Lindsay, and Domenico Lancellotti, trailblazer of a synthesis between Brazilian tradition and today's rhythms.
Some years ago the three decided to release three discs, alternating the lead role and the composition of the tracks. The first release was Music Typewriter, released as Moreno +2 in 2001; the second was Sincerely Hot as Domenico +2 in 2004; and in Spring 2007 came Futurismo, released by Kassin +2 and distributed by David Byrns's Luaka Bop label.
The most characteristic element of the new album is the perfect synthesis between bossa nova and a contemporary atmosphere and sound. This dual spirit is also embodied in the album's guest artists: the pianist and singer João Donato, one of the inventors of bossa nova, John McEntire from Tortoise and Sean O'Hagan of the High Llamas, both luminous exponents of the postrock scene.
As in the preceding CDs, Futurismo offers a series of songs that instantly captivate with their melodic inspiration and rhythmic variety. Kassin, Moreno and Domenico combine an encyclopaedic consciousness of Brazilian musical styles like samba, bossa nova and beat energy, with a pulsating contemporary spirit.

Alexander Kassin, Moreno Veloso and Domenico Lancellotti have collaborated since 1998, when they played a concert at the Museo D'Arte Moderna di San Paolo, and Arto Lindsay masterminded their collaboration. The outcome was immediately positive and the three rented a house in Petropolis in the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, that they transformed into a studio for rehearsal and recording. From these beginnings, the group and project +2 came to life.
