City Mix is a journey among the 'hot-spots' of contemporary electronic creativity. It is a journey among those cities that by nature and vocation have become artistic hotspots: the dynamic hubs of a map in constant expansion. In the ever-growing panorama of multi-media electronic techniques, some cities seem more capable of grasping, motivating and giving space to the productive energy that unites experimentation and high quality production.
The voyage had to begin in Florence, in whose underground new energies and projects are moving, capable of renewing the legacy of the pioneers Pankow and Alexander Robotnik. Next it passes by Amsterdam and its kindred spirits, stops off with the rapid advances of Bucharest and Frankfurt in the east, moves onto the fervid activity of an ever-more global Barcelona, and returns south as always to a bewitching and absolutely up-to-date Istanbul. The journey finishes in the city that has done more than any other to build the European electronic landscape: Berlin.... To watch the sky above and the music beneath.

In the map of electronic European culture, the Romanian capital is one of the most exciting and noteworthy new entries. The groundbreaking work of festivals like Rokolectiv in music production and AVMotional for video has gathered and given visibility to an active and interdisciplinary scene. Youthful Romanian talent has already begun to be appreciated in keynote European festivals like Sonar in Barcelona and Transmediale in Berlin.
DJ Shantel _ dj set
Stefan Hantel, the multifaceted musician and producer - king of the Balkan dancefloor (Mondomix), was the winner of the 2006 BBC Award, taking first place in the European World Music Chart. His album Bucovina Club Vol 2 was voted the best production of the year in Songlines, and obtaining coverage in NME and Rolling Stone. His style mixes the magic of Eastern music with hi-tech beats. His music unites different ages, groups and nationalities in a multi-cultural fusion that he has performed in incendiary nights at the Berlin State Opera House and the Brixton Academy in London. Shantel plays as resident DJ in many cities (Berlin, Vienna, Zurich and Istanbul among others). He has just concluded a special tour with 'Borat' after composing the soundtrack to the UK film of the same name with extraordinary worldwide success. He is currently working on the soundtrack for Fatih Akin's (known for his unusual and touching film The Turkish Bride, winner of the Golden Bear in Berlin and for the documentary Crossing the Bridge about the Istanbul music scene) next film and a new album called Disko Partizani, on release in May.
Selfish _ vj set
Selfish is Giovanni Antignano's live video performance. His sets are based on the obsessive processing of loop video and on the layering of visual sources ad infinitum. Over the years he has worked in various collectives like BlindVision with Graziano Staino, with the conceptual artists Timet on many sound-installations, and Fish-tank on digital artwork. He has taken part in innumerable international events (MAF05 Bangkok, Israeli Digital Lab, West Coast Nu Music Electronic Art, Biennal of Electronic Art Perth). He has collaborated with artists like Marco Parente, Lorenzo Brusci, David Cossin and Ether. His set will be a tribute to the cinematic imagination of East Europe.
